Description
If you build it they will come. We need them. The greatest test for wild birds in winter is to find food and ensure they eat enough of it to build - and maintain - adequate fat supplies to store on the body and ‘burn’ for energy.
This becomes even more difficult in hard weather when snow and ice hide once easily available natural food. Water birds may be forced to leave iced-over lakes and rivers; the ground becomes too hard for birds like thrushes and lapwings to probe and natural food like berries, acorns and seeds is buried.

Wow, so much snow! It's such a pleasure to watch the birds on the bird feeder in winter! Beautiful capture! Lf

Ah, bless them! Winter is so hard on the wildlife, especially the birds. Our neighbour has a proper bird table and keeps it well replenished for the bird,s and we make sure that there is clean ice-free water for them to bathe in and drink in the tops of our two water butts. They provide us with so much pleasure with their singing and ask so very little in return.

OBT, beautiful shot with a wonderful description. Yes, feed them, they will come. That looks like a pretty deep snow. f/l
