Description
Achmelvich is a settlement situated in the Highland region of Scotland. The name comes from the Gaelic "Achadh" - a plain or meadow and "mealbhaich" - sandy dunes. Beginning in the seventeenth century, Scottish people began emigrating to the United States, India, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Scottish people emigrated from Scotland and their descendants concentrated in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and to a lesser extent Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
